About this position

PhD Opportunity: Artificial Intelligence, Neuroimaging & Brain-Computer Interfaces for Stroke Rehabilitation

A PhD position is available for a candidate to join the MAP RECOVER project at Clinatec (CEA Grenoble, France), in collaboration with the Laboratory of Psychology and NeuroCognition (LPNC, CNRS, Université Grenoble Alpes).

The project sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, neuroimaging, brain-computer interfaces, computational neuroscience, and stroke rehabilitation. The successful candidate will work with multimodal datasets including 7T fMRI, MEG, and ECoG, and will develop machine learning and deep learning methods such as multimodal fusion, convolutional neural networks, and transformers.

Research goals include characterizing brain lesions and motor networks, decoding motor intention, predicting motor recovery, and identifying neurophysiological biomarkers for personalized rehabilitation. The work will contribute to next-generation AI tools for precision neurorehabilitation and will be validated using data from ongoing BCI rehabilitation studies.

Eligibility highlights: a Master's degree in Computational or Cognitive Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; strong Python programming skills; and prior experience with machine learning/deep learning. Familiarity with neuroimaging tools such as MNE-Python, Nilearn, FSL, SPM, Brainstorm, or FieldTrip is considered an advantage.

Location: Clinatec – CEA Grenoble, France, with collaboration from LPNC (CNRS, Université Grenoble Alpes).

How to apply: Interested candidates are invited to contact the researchers directly for further information and application guidance using the email addresses provided in the post.
