Oklahoma State University is recruiting a PhD student for a Flood Modeling and Management position in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, working with the Hydrological Extremes Lab under K.J. Jafarzadegan.

This opportunity is centered on research in hydrology, water resources, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, flood characterization, and flood management. The lab focuses on understanding floods and droughts, developing innovative methods and tools for modeling and mitigating hydrological extremes, and strengthening community resilience.

The position is a Graduate Research Assistantship and is intended for a qualified PhD student beginning in Fall 2026, with Spring 2027 possible for exceptionally qualified candidates. Applicants should have an M.S. degree in engineering, hydrology, water resources, or a closely related field. Preferred preparation includes experience with HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar flood modeling software, programming in Python or related languages, machine learning or AI methods for environmental data analysis, and strong quantitative/statistical skills.
