PhD opportunity at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) through the FPI-UPC 2026 Predoctoral Fellowships. This is a fully funded predoctoral contract for candidates interested in joining Institut Flumen and developing doctoral research in flood risk management, urban resilience, and the impacts of flooding on critical infrastructures and essential services.

The research profile is especially relevant for students with interests in hydraulic modelling, geospatial analysis, AI, remote sensing, and data-driven risk assessment. The call is competitive and places major weight on academic performance: 90% of the evaluation depends on the candidate’s academic record. Eligibility includes being admitted to or enrolled in a UPC PhD programme, or having a formal commitment to be hired. Funding includes a four-year contract with annual salary progression: €20,364.88 gross/year in years 1–2 and €25,456.20 gross/year in years 3–4. The call also includes tuition fee coverage and teaching experience opportunities, with up to 60 hours/year and a maximum of 180 teaching hours over the contract.
