About this position

PhD opportunity in Molecular Metabolism at the Molecular Metabolism Laboratory, CiMUS (Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases), University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

The group is recruiting enthusiastic students for a PhD focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic diseases, with emphasis on liver metabolism, hepatic fibrosis, MASH, diabetes, insulin resistance, and the discovery of new therapeutic targets.

Funding options: the lab welcomes candidates with an FPU fellowship, and also offers one fully funded 4-year FPI PhD position supported by the Spanish State Research Agency (Agencia Estatal de Investigación).

Training and research environment: students will gain experience in advanced metabolic phenotyping, molecular and cellular biology, mouse models of metabolic disease, multi-omics approaches, single-cell technologies, and in vitro experimental models. The lab also emphasizes scientific development through mentoring in experimental design, critical thinking, scientific writing, publishing, data interpretation, presentation, communication, and participation in national and international conferences.

Eligibility: applicants should be admitted to, or meet the requirements for admission to, a PhD programme in Spain. The group is looking for motivated, responsible, curious candidates who value teamwork and scientific excellence.

Funding details
