About this position

PhD and master's applicants are invited to apply for a position at the Indoor Plant Physiology Laboratory, Penn State University, in the United States. The project focuses on berry physiology and controlled-environment agriculture, with one position available starting Spring 2027. Preference will be given to PhD applicants.

The research will examine how environmental conditions, transpiration, nutrient uptake, and source-sink relationships affect berry growth, flowering, fruit development, and quality. Methods include physiological measurements, controlled-environment experiments, and data-driven modeling.

Applicants should have a background in plant science, horticulture, biology, agricultural or biological engineering, or a related field. Candidates must also meet Penn State's graduate admission and graduate assistantship requirements. Prior research experience and quantitative skills are desirable.

To apply, email Professor Paul Gauthier at [email protected] by October 22, 2026 with a CV and a 1-2 page research statement describing your research experience, relevant methods and skills, and research interests. After that, submit the formal application through the Penn State Graduate School website by October 30, 2026.
