PhD Position: Diversity and Phylogenetic Relationships of Crustacean Parasites in Central Europe Institute of Parasitology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Slovakia

This PhD position at the Institute of Parasitology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences offers an exciting opportunity to study the diversity and phylogenetic relationships of parasites in native and invasive crustacean species across Central Europe. The project combines fieldwork in natural environments with advanced laboratory research utilizing modern molecular methods, providing a comprehensive training experience for doctoral candidates interested in parasitology, biodiversity, and ecology.

The research is supported by the Seal of Excellence SoE/2025/61/MSCA4Uk project, ensuring coverage of research expenses, including the collection and processing of biological material and publication costs. A monthly scholarship is provided to successful candidates, and the study duration is four years in a full-time format. The academic year begins on September 1, 2026, and the position is based in Košice, Slovakia.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Natural Sciences, such as Veterinary Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Agriculture, or related fields. A good command of English is required.
