PhD Position in AI in Professional Conduct, Ethics, and Trust Oslo Metropolitan University in Norway

OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University is advertising a fully funded PhD position within the TRUST project, AI in Professional Conduct, based in Oslo, Norway. The project sits in the Centre for the Study of Professions (SPS) and the Norwegian Centre for Trustworthy AI (TRUST), and explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping professional norms, ethics, accountability, and trust.

The PhD is interdisciplinary and welcomes projects in two main research areas: Generative AI in Research and AI in Health Professions. Possible topics include research ethics, authorship and peer review, knowledge production, deskilling, academic practice, clinical decision-making, professional responsibility, patient–provider relationships, and trust/accountability. The project explicitly welcomes empirical, analytical, normative, and mixed-methods approaches.

Applicants should have a master’s degree (120 ECTS or equivalent) in philosophy, science and technology studies, sociology, political science, law, psychology, health professions, or a related field. A grade B or higher on the master’s thesis is required, along with excellent English and functional proficiency in a Scandinavian language. The application package includes an application letter, CV, diplomas and transcripts, a project proposal (max 5 pages), master’s thesis, publications if available, and a statement on any use of AI tools in preparing the application.

The position starts on 1 January 2027, lasts 3 years with a possible extension, and offers a starting salary of NOK 550,800/year plus pension and welfare benefits. The deadline is 19 August 2026.
