University of Heidelberg / Universitätsmedizin Mannheim is advertising a doctoral candidate (PhD) position in the newly established research group Applied Artificial Intelligence in Radiation Oncology at the Mannheim Institute for Intelligent Systems in Medicine (MIISM).

The project topic is AI predictions of treatment outcomes / KI-Vorhersagen von Therapieverläufen. The successful candidate will work on AI methods that use existing radiotherapy case data to generate precise predictions of expected treatment courses and support physicians in personalized therapy planning.

This position is embedded in an interdisciplinary and internationally staffed research environment and includes participation in the university’s graduate college, research and publication activities, and collaboration on teaching in the Biomedical Engineering program.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a comparable subject with very good grades. A specialization in Artificial Intelligence, Mathematical Statistics, or a related field is expected, together with sufficient experience in prototypical software development.
