About this position
PhD position in cancer chromatin biology and structural biology at the University of Oslo (Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Department of Molecular Medicine, Division of Biochemistry).
The project is in the research group of Prof. Philippe Collas and the project group of Dr. Marie Rogne, and focuses on the therapeutic potential of microproteins in advanced prostate cancer. The successful candidate will study how specific microproteins regulate the transcription factor SOX2 using cell-based and epigenomic assays, and will help resolve the SOX2 microprotein complex using a crystallographic approach.
This is a 100% funded 3-year PhD position, supported by the Norwegian Research Council. The salary range is NOK 550,800 to 607,500, depending on competence and experience. The position is based in Oslo, Norway, and includes standard public-sector benefits.
Research keywords: cancer biology, chromatin, structural biology, microproteins, prostate cancer, epigenomics, genomics, proteomics, transcriptional regulation, cell and molecular biology.
Eligibility highlights: a five-year master's degree or equivalent in molecular biology, epigenetics, or a related field; minimum grade B (ECTS) or equivalent; experience with cell and molecular biology, cloning, vector design, cell line engineering, and cell-based assays; knowledge of chromatin/transcriptional regulation/microproteins; fluent English. Experience in proteomics, bioinformatics of RNA-seq/ChIP-seq, electronic lab notebooks, and publishing is an advantage.
Application deadline: 25 October 2026.
How to apply: submit a cover letter, CV, transcripts, certificates, publication list, and three references via Jobbnorge. Foreign applicants should include an explanation of their grading system, and all documents must be in English or a Scandinavian language.
