About this position

University Medical Center Göttingen is recruiting a PhD position (f/m/d) in a highly collaborative biomedical research environment focused on cancer metabolism, metabolic plasticity, metabolomics, lipidomics, and cancer metastasis.

The research group led by Felix C. E. Vogel investigates metabolic vulnerabilities in pancreatic cancer and other cancer entities across the metastatic cascade. The project uses advanced experimental approaches including in vitro and in vivo CRISPR screening, comprehensive metabolomics/lipidomics, molecular biology, cell culture, tumor tissue processing, and animal experiments.

This is a funded PhD opening at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG), part of the University of Göttingen medical faculty and hospital integration model. The position is part-time (25.025 hours/week), fixed for 3 years, and paid according to TV-L at 65%. Funding comes from the UMG2032 - Excellence through Focus project supported by zukunft.niedersachsen, the joint funding program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation.

Applicants should have a BSc or MSc in life sciences such as Biology, Medical Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. The post asks for a strong background in cancer metabolism and/or cancer metastasis, hands-on cell culture experience, solid knowledge of molecular biology/protein biochemistry/cell biology, and fluent English. Experience with animal experiments (e.g. FELASA-B) is an advantage.

To apply, prepare a single PDF with a motivation letter, CV, certificates, and contact details for at least two references, then submit it through the recruiting portal. For questions, contact Dr. Felix Vogel at [email protected].
