University of Augsburg is advertising a PhD position in the Professorship for Intelligent Perception in Technical Systems, led by Prof. Dr. Jörg-Dieter Stückler (Professor for Computer Science). The project sits at the intersection of computer vision, robotics, machine learning, and world models, with possible research directions including robot perception and learning.

The role is a Research Associate (m/f/d) as PhD Student in the Faculty of Applied Computer Science, starting on October 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. It is a full-time, three-year fixed-term position, paid according to TV-L E13 if the formal requirements are met. The position is also noted as suitable for part-time work.

Research areas and keywords: computer vision, robotics, world models, machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, transformer models, diffusion models, and intelligent perception in technical systems.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a Master's degree in computer science, electrical or control engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a related field, with excellent grades. Strong mathematical foundations, programming skills (Python, C/C++), knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, and robotics, and very good English are required. The degree may still be pending at the time of application, but must be completed by the time of hiring. Experience shown through publications in top venues such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, IJCV, RSS, ICRA, IROS, RA-L, NeurIPS, ICML, or ICLR is considered an advantage.
