The University of Graz invites applications for a PhD position in the field of Criminal Law, located within the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and Criminology. This four-year, temporary position as University Assistant without Doctorate offers an annual gross salary of at least €52,865.40 for full-time employment, with the possibility of overpayment based on qualifications and experience. The role is designed for candidates eager to conduct independent research and write a dissertation in Criminal Law and/or Criminal Procedural Law, participate in research projects, engage in teaching and examination tasks, supervise students, and assist with organizational and administrative duties.

Applicants must hold a completed diploma or master’s degree in law or an equivalent university degree appropriate to the position. Proficiency in both written and spoken German and English is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate scientific curiosity, a strong interest in current research topics, and preferably have knowledge or interest in business law, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Good IT application skills, an independent working style, high initiative, communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team are also required.
