About this position

University of Bergen (UiB), Faculty of Medicine, Department of Clinical Science, is advertising a full-time PhD position for 3 years in digital precision dosing of monoclonal antibodies in cancer treatment.

The project, DikomAb, is funded by Haukeland University Hospital and the University of Bergen. It combines pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, clinical data extraction, and modelling to develop and validate individualized dosing methods for therapeutic monoclonal antibodies. The work also explores how digital methods and artificial intelligence can support annotation and interpretation of Norwegian-language patient records and make model outputs understandable to clinicians.

The PhD candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment with expertise in pharmacy, clinical pharmacology, cancer treatment, analytical chemistry, modelling, and digital methods, in collaboration with UiB, hospitals in the Western Norway Regional Health Authority, and other partners.

Typical tasks include reading and interpreting Norwegian patient records in DIPS, using Clinical Regex and LLMs for annotation verification, structuring and quality-assuring clinical data, analysing drug concentrations and patient data, developing and evaluating PKPD models, simulating dosing strategies, and communicating results in publications and conferences.

Eligibility highlights: a relevant master’s degree is required; pharmacy is preferred, but molecular biology or medical technology and other relevant backgrounds may be considered. Strong Norwegian language skills at C1 level are mandatory by the deadline, along with good English. Experience with PK/PD, quantitative analysis, programming/statistics/modelling (e.g. R, NONMEM), analytical methods, and clinical data is an advantage.

Funding: full-time salaried PhD appointment with salary starting at NOK 600,000 (higher in some cases for qualified medical/dental applicants). The position is fixed-term for 3 years.

Application: apply via Jobbnorge and upload the required documents, including motivation statement, CV, transcripts/diplomas, references, publication list, and any publications. Applicants with degrees from outside Norway may need HK-dir recognition and certified translations. Deadline: 12 November 2026.
