PhD Position in Epigenetic and Metabolic Interplay at Karolinska Institutet Karolinska Institutet in Sweden

Karolinska Institutet is advertising a PhD position in epigenetic and metabolic interplay in the Carlström laboratory. The project focuses on how subcellular protein and metabolite distribution shapes the chromatin landscape, with a strong emphasis on epigenetics, metabolism, protein biology, genome engineering, and single-cell multi-omics.

The research environment is described as highly collaborative and well equipped, with access to state-of-the-art techniques and core facilities. The lab works with iPSCs, primary cells, and animal models, with a specific focus on glial cell biology, regeneration, and cancer. Methods mentioned include CRISPR-based genome/transcriptome/epigenome engineering, perturbation screens, Cut&Tag, ATAC-seq, proteomics, molecular cloning, viral transduction, flow cytometry, and microscopy.

This is a doctoral studentship at Karolinska Institutet, offering a contractual salary for up to 4 years full-time. The position is suitable for candidates with training in Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related fields. Prior experience with human iPSCs, organoids, genome engineering, and single-cell omics is a merit. Strong English proficiency is required.

Eligibility requires a master’s degree or equivalent (including at least 240 credits with 60 advanced credits), plus English proficiency equivalent to English B/English 6.
