About this position

Roya Salehzadeh, Assistant Professor at Texas State University, is recruiting highly motivated PhD students for her lab at the Ingram School of Engineering.

The research area is intelligent, adaptive robotics at the intersection of robotics, human-robot interaction, brain-computer interfaces, and autonomous systems. The lab works on aerial drones and collaborative robots, with an emphasis on systems that can perceive and respond to human intent, context, and dynamic environments.

Research methods and topics include multimodal physiological and neural sensing, machine learning, reinforcement learning, large language models (LLMs), vision-language-action (VLA) architectures, computer vision, signal processing, and human-centered AI. This is a strong fit for students interested in robotics, AI for autonomy, and human-robot collaboration.

Applicants with backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related fields are encouraged to apply. Experience in robot programming and control, ML/RL, computer vision, neural or physiological signal processing, human factors, or BCI will strengthen an application.
