About this position
Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway's third largest university, is offering a PhD position in Marketing at the Oslo Business School. The position is part of the PhD program in Social Sciences, specializing in Business Administration, Innovation, and Governance. The successful candidate will join the Strategy, Innovation and Marketing group, which conducts research across strategy, digitalization, innovation, entrepreneurship, marketing, and communication, using diverse methods such as surveys, experiments, and qualitative approaches.
The PhD project will focus on topics related to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in marketing, including sustainable consumer behaviour and sustainable brands. The candidate will use experimental and quantitative research methods and will have considerable freedom to define the details of their project within these themes. The position is full-time for three years, with the possibility to extend to four years if teaching assignments are included.
Applicants must hold an excellent MSc (120 ECTS) degree in marketing or business administration, with a grade of B or better on both the master's thesis and the overall degree. Candidates nearing completion of their degree may apply, provided the degree is finished by 1 September 2026. Strong interest in marketing research, quantitative methods, and the ability to work independently are required. Excellent communication skills in English are essential, and knowledge of a Scandinavian language is advantageous. Experience in data collection, analysis, research projects, and academic publishing will be considered an advantage. Admission to the doctoral program is a prerequisite, based on a comprehensive assessment of the application and project description.
The position offers a competitive salary (NOK 550,800 per year), beneficial pension arrangements with the Norwegian State Pension Fund, good employee welfare arrangements, and free Norwegian classes for employees. The working location is in downtown Oslo, providing access to multiple cultural offers. OsloMet is committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming all qualified candidates and offering workplace adaptations as needed.
To apply, candidates must submit a cover letter (max 2 pages) outlining a suggested topic and method for the PhD project, a CV with a summary of the master’s thesis and previous scholarly work, certificates/diplomas for bachelor’s and master’s degrees (with ECTS grades), copies of the master’s thesis and published works, and a confirmation from the institution if in the last 4 months of a master’s programme. Original documents and a valid passport must be presented if invited for an interview. Incomplete applications will not be considered. For questions, contact Jakob Utgård at [email protected].
