About this position

Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) is Norway's third largest university, renowned for its commitment to research and education with high relevance for the workforce, welfare state, and metropolitan region. The Oslo Business School at OsloMet invites applications for a PhD position in Marketing, affiliated with the Strategy, Innovation and Marketing group. This group conducts research across strategy, digitalization, innovation, entrepreneurship, marketing, and communication, employing diverse methods such as surveys, experiments, and qualitative approaches. The research aims to contribute to both academic theory and practical applications.

The PhD candidate will focus on topics related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in marketing, including sustainable consumer behaviour and sustainable brands. The project will primarily use experimental and quantitative research methods, and candidates will have considerable freedom to define their project details within these themes.

The position is part of the PhD program in Social Sciences, specializing in Business Administration, Innovation, and Governance. It is a three-year full-time appointment, with the possibility of extension to four years if teaching assignments are included. The role offers a competitive salary (NOK 550,800 per year), beneficial pension arrangements with the Norwegian State Pension Fund, employee welfare benefits, and free Norwegian language classes. The working location is in downtown Oslo, providing access to a vibrant cultural environment.

Applicants must hold an excellent MSc (120 ECTS) degree in marketing or business administration, with a grade of B or better on both the master's thesis and the overall degree. Candidates nearing completion of their degree may apply, provided the degree is finished by 1 September 2026. Strong quantitative research skills, independent work ethic, and excellent English communication skills are required; proficiency in a Scandinavian language is advantageous. Experience in data collection, analysis, research projects, and academic publishing is beneficial. Admission to the doctoral program is mandatory and based on a comprehensive assessment of the application, including the project description's relevance and quality. Foreign diplomas must be translated into English and preferably recognized by NOKUT.

OsloMet values diversity and inclusivity, welcoming all qualified candidates and offering workplace adaptations as needed. Applicants with gaps in employment, study, or training are encouraged to apply. The application process requires uploading a cover letter (max 2 pages), CV, certificates/diplomas (with ECTS grades), copies of master’s thesis and published works, and confirmation if in the final months of a master’s program.
