About this position

PhD opportunity at TUD Dresden University of Technology in the Department for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI Dresden), within the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS).

The post is for Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x) and offers two full-time positions starting 2026-11-01 for 2 years, with the option of extension. The positions are intended to support further academic qualification and are remunerated according to E 13 TV-L.

Research areas: Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, Knowledge Graphs, and related fields such as Graph Machine Learning. The role includes scientific research, participation in national and international projects, possible industrial collaboration, teaching support (seminars), presenting and publishing results in top-tier conferences/journals, co-supervising Bachelor’s/Master’s students, and assisting with proposal writing when relevant.

Supervisor / chair: Chair of Scalable Software Architectures for Data Analytics, Prof. Dr. Michael Färber.

Eligibility: Applicants should hold a university degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Advanced Information Science and Engineering, or a related field. Prior research experience in the listed areas is a strong advantage. Strong programming skills are expected, with deep learning framework experience preferred. Good written and spoken English, motivation, independence, and teamwork skills are required.

Funding and support: The position is funded, includes access to high-performance computing resources, and provides training opportunities within ScaDS.AI.
