About this position

The Department of Positron Emission Tomography at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) is recruiting a PhD student to work on the development and evaluation of PET image reconstruction methods for simultaneous clinical dual-tracer PET imaging. This interdisciplinary project, in collaboration with Forschungszentrum Jülich, aims to advance quantitative functional imaging by enabling the separation of two radiotracers in a single PET scan, providing distinct images for improved cancer diagnosis and treatment planning. The successful candidate will develop and implement advanced image reconstruction algorithms using a modular, C++-based framework, validate methods on clinical PET phantom data, and collaborate closely with scientific and clinical partners. Applicants should have a strong background in medical physics, physics, computer science, or medical engineering, with proficient programming skills and experience in statistical computing environments. Knowledge of Monte Carlo simulation, medical image reconstruction, and data science is highly desirable. The position offers a vibrant, international research environment, a structured PhD program, and comprehensive benefits including salary, paid leave, pension scheme, health management, and flexible working options. Applications should be submitted online with all required documents. The deadline for applications is December 28, 2024.
