The Faculty of Psychology, University of Bergen, is inviting applications for a full-time PhD research fellow position within psychology. The position is part of the HELP.d project (Harmonising Evidence and Linking Interventions to Advance Treatment of Pedophilic Disorder), a Horizon Europe-funded research project focused on improving the understanding, assessment, treatment, and implementation of interventions for pedophilic disorder.

The successful candidate will join a research environment that combines clinical psychology, forensic psychology, psychometrics, and intervention-related research. The project tasks include conducting a systematic evidence map of measures used in pedophilic disorder research, contributing to a conceptual framework for core clinical constructs, developing or refining measurement scales, and carrying out psychometric analyses. The PhD candidate will also participate in collaborative work across the broader HELP.d network.

Eligibility and requirements

Applicants must hold a master's degree or equivalent in psychology, forensic psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology, or a closely related field. Strong quantitative skills are required, as well as the ability to work independently, in a structured manner, and collaboratively. Good written and oral English skills are required. Experience related to pedophilia or pedophilic disorder, sexual offending, sexual health, help-seeking, stigma, psychometric analysis, or clinical/forensic psychology is considered an advantage, as are publications or conference presentations. For admission to the doctoral programme, grade B or above is normally required for the master’s thesis or overall qualifying degree average.

Funding and duration

The position is fixed-term for 3 years, with an expected start date of 1 January 2027 in Bergen, Norway. The advertisement states an annual salary of NOK 593,700 before taxes, with automatic salary progression for up to four years and the possibility of a higher salary for those with specialist education. The position also includes enrolment in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund and welfare benefits.
