About this position

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Chennai campus) is inviting applications for a full-time PhD position in Smart Antenna Communication under the guidance of Dr. Devisowjanya P, Assistant Professor (Sr.Gr), Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

The project focuses on next-generation chipless RFID and microwave sensing systems for smart infrastructure. The research aims at low-cost, multi-parameter monitoring of temperature, humidity, strain, and material conditions in harsh multipath environments. The work combines advanced antenna design, SDR platforms, and machine learning for reliable applications in industrial, healthcare, logistics, and warehouse settings.

Eligible applicants should hold an M.E./M.Tech. in Communication Engineering, RF & Microwave Engineering, Wireless Communication, Signal Processing, Antenna Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline. A strong academic background is expected, and candidates with GATE/NET or equivalent qualifications are encouraged to apply. Helpful skills include CST Studio Suite, HFSS, MATLAB, Python, and antenna design/analysis experience. Prior publications are desirable but not mandatory.

Funding includes a fellowship of ₹30,000–₹40,000 per month, with enhanced opportunities up to ₹55,000 per month. The position also offers research infrastructure support up to ₹10 lakhs, publication support up to ₹6 lakhs, international collaboration and conference travel funding, and innovation/patent/startup ecosystem support.
