About this position

Predoctoral research position for a PhD project at the University of Navarra in Spain, linked to the project Synthetic biology-based circuits to promote efficacy and survival of cardiac tissue engineered 3D constructs.

The position is based in the Cardiac Tissue Engineering group at the University of Navarra and Cima, with research focused on the biofabrication of next-generation human engineered 3D cardiac tissue by embedding synthetic circuits into hiPSCs. The work combines synthetic biology, cardiac tissue engineering, gene editing, hiPSC cardiovascular differentiation, engineered tissue assembly, molecular biology, and imaging.

This is a predoctoral, full-time, up to 4-year contract. The project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and is also linked to the EU / Next Generation EU framework. International mobility during the PhD is considered, and animal experiments are envisioned during the project.

Eligibility highlights: Master degree or equivalent in biological sciences; strong motivation, resilience, and teamwork skills; proven experience in mammalian cell culture, hiPSC culture and cardiac differentiation, RNA extraction, RT-qPCR, IF staining, imaging, and general labwork. Excellent English and good Spanish are required.

How to apply: Email the required documents to [email protected]. The post asks for a CV and detailed academic certification of studies completed. Deadline: 30 September 2026.
