About this position
Oklahoma State University is recruiting 2–3 PhD students in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department for a newly funded NSF project titled Elevating Resilience in Aerial Platform Integrated THz Backhaul.
The openings span two research directions: (1) THz measurements and experimental systems, including sub-THz/THz measurement campaigns, experimental system development, and characterization of signal acquisition and maintenance under aerial-platform motion, beam misalignment, blockage, and other link perturbations; and (2) prediction and tracking algorithms for high-frequency beams, including machine learning and Kalman filter-based prediction/tracking, turbulence or outage prediction, boresight misalignment prediction, and hybrid AI–Kalman beam optimization.
Applicants with an MS degree in EEE or a closely related field are strongly preferred. Prior experience with high-frequency RF and/or THz measurements and experimental systems is preferred for the measurement-focused role. The target start is Spring 2027.
For the THz measurements position, contact Dr. John O'Hara at [email protected]. For the algorithms position, contact Shahriar Shahabuddin at [email protected].
