About this position
SDU Robotics at the University of Southern Denmark is inviting applications for one or more 3-year PhD positions in Human-Robot Interaction for welfare and healthcare applications. The positions are part of the newly launched ROBOWELL project, an international research collaboration aimed at developing a Nordic model for integrating social robots into welfare services, including elderly care.
Successful candidates will conduct cutting-edge research in robotics, human-robot interaction, computer vision, and robot systems integration, while contributing to social robotic solutions for welfare applications. The role also includes collaboration with project partners across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, plus participation in research and teaching activities at SDU Robotics.
Eligibility highlights include a Master's degree (or being in the final semester) in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Applicants should have strong competencies in experiment design, robot systems integration, and computer vision, along with experience in ROS and object-oriented programming. Excellent English communication skills and the ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams are required. Danish or another Scandinavian language is preferred.
The research environment is described as collaborative and international, with around 60 researchers at SDU Robotics, access to state-of-the-art facilities, and strong collaboration with the Center for Clinical Robotics. The positions are based in Odense, Denmark, primarily onsite. The application deadline is 2026-08-02 at 11:59 PM (CET/CEST), and the starting date is to be agreed upon.
Interested applicants should apply via the linked SDU Career Site portal and follow the instructions on the job posting.
