About this position
CRISTAL Lab at CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security is recruiting fully funded researchers in Trustworthy AI and AI Alignment, with openings for PhD students, Postdoctoral Researchers, and Research Interns (BSc/MSc/PhD). Positions are available as early as Fall 2026 and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
The lab, led by Cristina Gârbacea, focuses on foundation models, AI alignment & evaluation, reasoning & decision-making, agentic and multi-agent systems, continual and lifelong learning, interpretability, and AI safety & robustness. The group aims to build systems that communicate effectively, reason reliably, operate safely in complex environments, and make transparent, trustworthy decisions.
