This is a 3-year, part-time (75%) paid position at E 13 TV-H with an expected start date as soon as possible. The role is designed to support independent research toward a doctorate in Economics and related areas, with a strong focus on sustainable development, development economics, risk and vulnerability, health insurance, and adaptation to climate change in the Global South.
Responsibilities include collaboration on research projects, conducting independent doctoral research, contributing to teaching in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs (primarily in English), supervising student theses, and taking part in administrative tasks within the research group. The position also offers connection to the department’s focus topic Climate Adaptation and participation in the MAGKS Doctoral Program in Economics and the MArburg University Research Academy.
Applicants should hold an MSc degree or equivalent in Economics or a related field such as Political Science or Statistics. Strong knowledge of econometrics, experience with Stata or R, and basic mathematical competence are required. Experience in the thematic areas of risk & vulnerability, health insurance, climate models and simulation, adaptation to climate change, or development economics is an advantage. Very good written and spoken English is required; German is a significant advantage.
