About this position

PhD Research Scholar opportunities are open at the Beyond 5G Group, Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.

The group, led by Prof. Rakhesh Singh Kshetrimayum, is recruiting 2–3 PhD Research Scholars for the December 2026 admission session. Research interests include next-generation antenna design, high-performance microwave filters, RF/microwave engineering, and Beyond 5G/6G wireless communications.

Eligibility highlights include M.Tech candidates from IITs, NITs, or other reputed institutions in India/abroad with prior exposure to RF, antennas, or microwaves. Direct B.Tech candidates may apply for the Dual MS(Engg.) + PhD track and must have a minimum CPI of 7.0. Non-GATE candidates are also eligible through a separate departmental written examination/interview. IIT B.Tech graduates with CPI ≥ 8.0 may apply directly without a GATE score, and IIT M.Tech graduates may be eligible for coursework exemption. Familiarity with HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, or AWR is desirable.
