PhD Research Staff Position at Universidade de Vigo
The Universidade de Vigo is recruiting PhD research staff in Applied Economics to join the Future Oceans Lab and contribute to a multidisciplinary project at the intersection of social and natural sciences. The work focuses on the Angolan fisheries value chain, combining ecological, social, and economic perspectives to better understand actors, flows, relationships, vulnerability, governance, and climate-related risks.
The selected researcher will support a range of research tasks, including mapping the fisheries value chain and its stakeholders, developing a harmonized data collection methodology, assisting with fieldwork in Angola, defining indicators for social and socioeconomic analysis, and examining vulnerability dynamics. The position also includes assessing how gender perspectives influence adaptive capacity, as well as contributing to scientific publications, communication activities, and knowledge transfer.
This is a full-time temporary position (37.5 hours per week) based at CACTI-CINBIO - Vigo, in Spain. The appointment is linked to the university’s research environment and is not funded through an EU research framework programme. The posting indicates a benefit of 2700 €, including extra-payment apportionments.

Technical skills in R, Python, Excel, GitHub, GIS/spatial analysis, STATA/network analysis, and the design of surveys or participatory workshops are required.
Application: candidates must submit a single PDF containing their CV and an English cover letter of up to 500 words describing their fit and motivation. Selection is merit-based, with interview invitations limited to the top three candidates who score at least 50 points overall.
