About this position

University of Bucharest is recruiting 5 PhD researcher positions in Social Sciences / Sociology within the project Developing Social and Security Resilience by Promoting Excellence in Research (ESSER-SECURE). The work is based at the Center of Excellence in Security and Societal Resilience (ESSER-SECURE) and focuses on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of sociology, security studies, resilience, cybersecurity, radicalization, disinformation, AI, and hybrid threats.

Research themes mentioned in the call include: future violent extremism and radicalization, crime–terror–hybrid threat nexus, critical infrastructure resilience, human and organizational dimensions of cybersecurity, information manipulation and cognitive security, national and societal resilience in the AI era, and methodologies for mapping security processes. The role includes research, data collection, data analysis, drafting reports and scientific outputs, participation in scientific events, and administrative/organizational tasks.

This is a temporary, part-time position (up to 4 hours/day) with a contract running until 31 December 2027. The post requires physical presence in the office. Applicants must be doctoral students enrolled in a PhD program in the fundamental field of Social Sciences. Required language levels are English: good and Romanian: excellent.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
