About this position

PhD opening in Geosciences, GeoAI, geospatial artificial intelligence, and contrastive learning at the Technical University of Munich (Professorship Big Geospatial Data Management, Germany).

The position is a research associate / doctoral candidate role focused on research activities around hard negative sampling for contrastive learning and its applications in geospatial AI. The post is positioned in a highly international research environment with close links to research institutes and industry in the Munich “Space Valley”.

Funding/employment: full-time 100% position, TV-L E13, for 3 years, with the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree. This is a salaried research position rather than a scholarship stipend.

Eligibility highlights: completed master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, physics, geoinformatics, data science, or related fields; strong background in machine learning; familiarity with contrastive learning, computer vision, or geospatial data is welcome; excellent programming skills (Python, C++, etc.); ability to work independently; willingness to learn; fluent English required; German is a plus.
