The Department of Business Administration at the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics is recruiting a doctoral student for a research project on how audit firms build capacity for sustainability expertise in response to demand for sustainability assurance under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The project, led by Associate Professor Alice Annelin, examines team resources, audit processes, and organizational contexts, with an exploratory design and room for the doctoral student to define their own research question.

Funding and duration: The first 22 months are funded through scholarships, and the remaining period is financed through employment as a doctoral student. Eligibility highlights: Applicants need an advanced degree, at least 240 higher education credits, including 60 at advanced level, and at least 90 ECTS in Business Administration with an independent thesis/project of at least 15 ECTS. Strong English is required; Swedish is an advantage. Knowledge of accounting is required, while auditing or sustainability reporting is an advantage.
