Boise State University is recruiting 1–2 PhD students to join a new research lab in the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering.

The lab is led by Jannatun Nawer, Assistant Professor, and focuses on alloy development and design, high-temperature materials processing, thermophysical property characterization, and uncertainty analysis and modeling of process-structure-property relationships through Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) to support the additive manufacturing (AM) industry.

Students with a background in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Helpful experience includes materials characterization, computational materials tools such as Thermo-Calc, CALPHAD, and FEM, as well as statistical analysis, uncertainty analysis, and experimental processing. The post emphasizes motivation, curiosity, and willingness to collaborate across disciplines.

This is a chance to become a founding member of a new research group, help shape the lab’s direction, and work on projects with relevance to AM industry partners and aerospace/space applications. The post does not mention a deadline or funding package.
