About this position

PhD Studentship: Nonlinear waves on liquid cylinders at the University of East Anglia (Norwich, England, United Kingdom).

This PhD project focuses on nonlinear waves in fluid mechanics, especially inviscid liquid jets subject to surface tension, vorticity, and swirl. The research will develop new computational methods to compute and characterize novel travelling-wave solutions, with particular emphasis on solitary waves and their stability. The project also extends to related systems such as ferrofluid jets.

Supervisor: Prof. Mark Blyth.

Entry requirements: minimum 2:1 in mathematics or physics.

Funding: this is a self-funded PhD studentship. Applicants should be self-funded or in the process of securing external funding. A bench fee is payable in addition to tuition, and UEA alumni may be eligible for a tuition fee discount.

Study mode: full-time or part-time.
