PhD/MS research opportunities are open at the Spectrum Lab in the Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences, Kansas State University, USA.

The recruiting faculty member is Barnali Das (Assistant Professor), who is seeking two highly motivated students to join a research team working on machine learning, deep learning, remote sensing, and geospatial data science.

Research topics include water stress monitoring, evapotranspiration estimation, playa wetland dynamics, agriculture, climate resilience, and broader surface water and groundwater systems in the Great Plains.

Ideal applicants should have a background in Remote Sensing, GIS, Geography, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or a related field. Python experience is preferred, and prior machine learning/deep learning experience is helpful but not required.

Students will work with satellite datasets, develop innovative ML models, publish in leading journals, present at conferences, and collaborate with academia, government, and industry partners.
