About this position
Post-doc (assistant professor) – M/F – SONATA BIS project at Poznan University of Technology, Poland.
This funded postdoctoral opening is part of the project Development of One-pot Multienzymatic Cascade Systems for Sustainable Synthesis of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. The position is hosted by Poznan University of Technology and is aimed at an experienced researcher in chemistry/biochemistry, with a strong experimental profile in biocatalysis and organic synthesis.
The research will focus on the design and execution of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) synthesis using biocatalytic approaches, including one-pot multienzymatic cascade systems. The post also covers the use of ionic liquids and/or deep eutectic solvents for API synthesis, optimization of process conditions with a view to reducing organic solvent use, monitoring process efficiency, and performing flow synthesis of APIs. The work is clearly interdisciplinary, combining biochemistry, green chemistry, synthetic methodology, and process optimization.
The appointment is offered as a temporary, full-time contract for 24 months. The funding is stated as a salary of approximately PLN 8,660 gross per month. The position is based in Poznań, Poland, and the employer notes that accommodation is not provided during the contract period.
Eligibility requirements are substantial. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent, with the degree obtained no earlier than 7 years before 1 January 2026 and earned outside Poznan University of Technology. The post requires a PhD in chemistry, chemical technology, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, biotechnology, biological sciences, or a related area; at least 3 years of experimental laboratory experience; and demonstrated scientific achievements in biocatalysis, organic chemistry, or biotechnology. Candidates should have at least two peer-reviewed scientific articles as co-author, practical knowledge of biocatalytic process analysis and optimization, experience in biocatalysis and organic synthesis, familiarity with ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, and very good English (B2 or equivalent, certified). Analytical, technical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are also emphasized.

Additional project rules prohibit receiving other remuneration from certain research project funds during the appointment and prohibit remuneration from another employer based on an employment contract, including outside Poland.
