About this position

Post-doc in Neuroscience in the Synaptogenesis Research Group at the Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development in Wrocław, Poland.

The Synaptogenesis Research Group is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for an NCN-funded project (grant 2024/55/B/NZ3/02433) investigating the role of AMOTL1 in the brain in relation to psychiatric disorders. The project is especially interesting because AMOTL1 functions in the central nervous system have not previously been reported, and the group has already generated strong preliminary data suggesting important roles for AMOTL1 in neurons and brain function.

The research will focus on dissecting the functions of AMOTL1 in specific brain circuits that regulate emotional states and behavior. The laboratory works across multiple areas of neuroscience and neurobiology, with ongoing research on the brain, skeletal muscles, and neuromuscular junctions. The environment is international and multicultural, with about half of the lab members coming from abroad.

The project uses a broad set of state-of-the-art methods, including tissue-specific genetic modifications in mice, recombinant AAV-based gene delivery, proteomics, RNA sequencing, complex biochemistry, neurotransmitter analysis, confocal microscopy, and cell culture. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of techniques and is expected to contribute to high-quality scientific outputs and publications.

Major responsibilities include planning, designing, and conducting experiments; writing manuscripts; presenting results at international scientific meetings; participating actively in laboratory operations; and supervising PhD students and technicians.

Applicants must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) and demonstrate scientific productivity through publications, laboratory experience in biology and neuroscience, leadership and organizational skills, teamwork, and very good English. Experience with neuroscience research and mouse experiments is an advantage, and experience with immunostaining, Western blot, co-immunoprecipitation, protein purification, molecular cloning, PCR/qRT-PCR, viral-based gene delivery, cell culture, and breeding transgenic or knockout animals will be considered a plus.

The position is a full-time postdoctoral contract in a research infrastructure context, with additional staff benefits including private medical care co-financing, a sports card, group life insurance, and social benefits fund support. Applications must be submitted online by 11 October 2026 at 23:59 (Europe/Warsaw).
