Post-doc Research Associate in Educational Inequalities, PISA, and Longitudinal Data Technical University of Munich in Germany

Research Associate (Post-doc) in the MapIE and PISA project (m/f/d) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), School of Social Sciences and Technology.

The position is based in the Chair of Educational Monitoring and Effectiveness and the Centre for International Comparative Studies in Education (ZIB) eV. It is a full-time post-doc role (E13 TV-L), limited to three years, starting as soon as possible.

The role focuses on the European Horizon Europe project MapIE – Mapping of Longitudinal Data of Inequalities in Education, which studies how educational inequalities emerge and develop over time across educational contexts. The work involves compiling and analyzing longitudinal data and existing research findings, examining factors, measures, and education policy approaches that may reduce inequalities. In addition, the post includes scientific tasks related to PISA in Germany, especially empirical analyses, publications, and other study-related work.

Requirements: a very good or good university degree plus a completed doctorate in educational science, psychology, educational research, or a related field; excellent knowledge of empirical educational research and quantitative methods; experience with complex quantitative data; longitudinal data analysis is especially desirable; strong interest in educational inequality, educational development, and educational monitoring; ability to independently design, conduct, and publish scientific studies; excellent German and English communication skills; independent, reliable, structured working style; teamwork skills; and willingness to collaborate in an international research network.

Advantageous experience: research on educational inequalities, longitudinal and large-scale assessment data, PISA or other student achievement studies, international comparative education research, secondary analyses of extensive educational datasets, and participation in national or European collaborative projects.

Funding and conditions: full-time employment at E13 TV-L for three years. The post is embedded in an international Horizon Europe-funded project and offers extensive opportunities for independent scientific work, publication, and further academic qualification.
