About this position
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases (IGHID) is recruiting a Post-Doc Research Associate for a malaria clinical trials fellowship.
The project focuses on innovative clinical trials evaluating the effectiveness and safety of insecticide-treated baby wraps for preventing malaria in young children. The work builds on prior findings and ongoing studies across sub-Saharan Africa, with collaboration in Uganda.
The fellow will work closely with PI Ross Boyce, MD, MSc, and other investigators on clinical trial design, protocol development, implementation, oversight, statistical analysis, interpretation of trial data, manuscript writing, abstracts, presentations, grant applications, and study leadership. There are also opportunities to develop complementary sub-studies and present at national and international meetings.

Eligibility: PhD, DrPH, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree with training or experience in epidemiologic methods and biostatistics. What's required

Candidates should have strong quantitative and scientific writing skills, excellent organizational and communication skills, and an interest in developing an independent research career in global health and infectious diseases. The position requires the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary, international research teams and a willingness to travel internationally for approximately 2-3 weeks at a time. Preferred qualifications include experience with clinical trials or prospective epidemiologic studies, statistical analysis using R, Stata, or similar software, research in low- and middle-income country settings, preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts/abstracts/presentations, and experience in malaria or other infectious diseases.
