About this position
Postdoctoral position in BioRESPIR at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB), France. The postdoctoral researcher will work across two complementary settings: the LOCIE laboratory at USMB/CNRS in Bourget-du-Lac and the R&D department of Normec-Abiolab in Montbonnot-Saint-Martin near Grenoble. The project is part of the ANR BioRESPIR initiative, focused on Bioaerosol Removal by ElectroStatic Precipitator for Indoor Air Remediation.
The research is centered on indoor air remediation, bioaerosol capture, and microorganism survival in innovative electrofiltration systems. The successful candidate will develop and implement methodologies to measure microorganism survival in electrostatic precipitator collectors, with particular attention to microorganisms used as models for virus studies. Experimental work will use LOCIE’s ventilation benches in static and dynamic conditions, and will be complemented by field campaigns in real indoor environments such as hospitals, water treatment units, and schools.
This position offers a highly interdisciplinary environment combining biological sciences, engineering, molecular biology, aerosol microbiology, and environmental measurements. The work will contribute to a better understanding of the biocidal efficacy of ionization processes and their ability to reduce the biological load of indoor aerosols. The candidate will collaborate closely with researchers at LOCIE and engineers in Normec-Abiolab’s R&D department, with access to laboratory platforms and expertise in molecular biology and virology.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in bioprocess engineering, microbiology, or virology; strong knowledge of aerosol microbiology and molecular biology analysis; interest in indoor microbiological issues, lab experimentation, and fieldwork; fluency in French and English. The appointment is full-time, temporary, and begins on 2 November 2026. The application deadline is 6 October 2026 at 12:00 (Europe/Paris).
How to apply: send your application by email to the address provided in the posting. The position reference is 21384 – REGAIN / BioRESPIR. For further details, consult the additional job information link in the announcement.
