About this position

A post-doctoral position is available at the University of Montpellier in the Laboratoire de Mécanique et Génie Civil (LMGC), BIOTIC team, in collaboration with LIRMM, IRMB/CARTIGEN, and the industrial partner Symétrie. The project sits at the interface of biomechanics, robotics, imaging, and biology, making it a strong opportunity for researchers interested in experimental mechanics and biomedical applications.

The main mission is to develop and integrate a robotic platform for multiscale biomechanical testing of murine cartilage and intervertebral discs under biomimetic loading conditions, while coupling the experiments with advanced imaging systems. The work will involve adapting the SOLANO miniaturized hexapod robot for high-precision dynamic biomechanical testing, improving actuation control, synchronizing the platform with imaging modalities such as micro-CT, OCT, multiphoton microscopy, and SEM, and developing customized physiological and pathological loading protocols.

The postdoctoral researcher will conduct ex vivo tests on murine tissues, analyze micro- and nanoscale cell/tissue deformation, and collaborate with IRMB to connect ex vivo findings with in vivo gait and behavioral analyses. Results are expected to be disseminated through peer-reviewed publications and international conferences.

The position is a full-time temporary contract lasting 18 months. The net monthly salary is between €2,200 and €2,380. The role is based in Montpellier, France, at the University of Montpellier.

Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent and have strong expertise in experimental biomechanics and/or robotics. Programming and data analysis skills are required, and experience in imaging or microscopy is an advantage. The post also values autonomy, rigor, creativity, teamwork, and strong communication skills.

To apply, candidates should send a CV, cover letter, and references by email to [email protected] and [email protected] before 20 August 2026.
