About this position

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is offering a 12-month post-doctoral position in Design, Fabrication & Testing of Bio-Inspired Drones within the GSMI/GEP research environment in Morocco. The project is centered on the design, prototyping, and experimental validation of bio-inspired UAVs, drawing ideas from the aerodynamics and adaptability of birds and bats.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of morphing-wing drone prototypes through a combination of CAD/CAE modeling, structural optimization, composite fabrication, and additive manufacturing. The work also includes aerodynamic, vibration, endurance, fatigue, and flight testing, with validation activities supported by tools such as ABAQUS, SolidWorks, ANSYS, and COMSOL. The position is strongly oriented toward experimental engineering, lightweight structural design, and prototype integration.

The post aims to deliver a TRL 5 UAV prototype, along with publication output and patent-related contribution, while establishing a workflow for morphing UAV design at UM6P. This is a strong opportunity for researchers interested in aerospace engineering, mechanical design, composite materials, and advanced manufacturing.

Eligibility highlights: a Materials Engineering degree (Bac+5) or equivalent in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering; background in CAD/CAE, structural design, or composites; and added value from experience in additive manufacturing or mechanical testing. The role seeks an autonomous, organized, and motivated researcher able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Application materials: CV, cover letter, and one recommendation letter. The application deadline is not specified in the posting, and the start date is immediate.
