About this position
Postdoctoral opportunity at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, within the Digital Manufacturing of Biomimetic Systems Group, working under the supervision of dr hab. Marco Costantini.
The position is part of the project “Inverse design-assisted biodegradable modular dressings for negative pressure wound healing” (FENG.02.02-IP.05-0180/24), supported through the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 (FENG), Action 2.2 First Team, with the Foundation for Polish Science as intermediate institution. The project aims to develop an innovative, modular, partially bioresorbable wound filler for Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) based on natural biopolymers, addressing limitations of conventional polyurethane dressings.
This is a full-time, temporary postdoctoral appointment for a Young PhD holder with a background in chemistry, materials science, engineering, biotechnology, or a related discipline. The successful candidate will join an international, multidisciplinary team and contribute to research spanning biomaterials, porous materials, biopolymer-based systems, microfluidics, and wound-healing applications.
Eligibility highlights include a PhD obtained no more than seven years before joining the project, subject to permitted extensions for parental or research breaks. The post requires prior experience in biomaterials, porous materials synthesis, microfluidics, biopolymers, and wound healing, as well as creativity, strong publication/project track record, and excellent English communication and organizational skills.
The post offers a gross salary of around 11,600 PLN per month (including employer costs), with 100% of the postdoc’s work time devoted to the project. The selected researcher will have opportunities to work in an interdisciplinary environment, build an academic career, and collaborate internationally, including with groups such as the National Cancer Institute – Regina Elena in Rome.
