Post-doctoral Research Associate in Immunology and Cancer Microenvironment INSERM in France

The Centre d’Immunologie Marseille-Luminy (CIML), a renowned European immunology research institute, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Lawrence lab, which specializes in the immunobiology of macrophages and dendritic cells, particularly in the context of cancer. The project, funded by the Wellcome Trust, aims to unravel the mechanisms that regulate the dynamics and functional polarization of tumor-associated macrophages and dendritic cells. Utilizing genetically modified mouse models and conditional gene targeting, the successful candidate will employ advanced high-dimensional single-cell analysis technologies and spatial proteogenomics to investigate the complex interaction networks between immune cells and the tumor microenvironment.

The role involves developing experimental workflows for data acquisition, applying bioinformatics tools to analyze multidimensional datasets, and collaborating with computational biologists to derive mechanistic insights. Techniques such as single-cell RNA-seq, spectral flow cytometry, multiplex imaging, and spatial genomics will be central to the research. The post holder will also contribute to grant writing, manuscript preparation, and broader research initiatives within the team and the Centre. CIML provides a vibrant, international research environment with cutting-edge core facilities, including advanced flow cytometry, bioimaging, genomics, mouse transgenics, and computational biology platforms.

Located in the Luminy Science and Technology Park in Marseille, France, adjacent to the Parc National des Calanques, CIML is home to 185 scientists, students, and postdocs across 15 research groups. Applicants should possess a PhD in biological sciences or a related field, have substantial experience with experimental mouse models in immunology or oncology, and demonstrate proficiency in single cell omics technologies.
