About this position

Post-doctoral Scholar in Climate & Energy Politics at the University of California Santa Barbara (Institute of Energy Efficiency / College of Engineering).

This postdoctoral opening is part of UCSB’s 2035 Initiative, a think-and-do tank focused on confronting the climate crisis. The scholar will support research on public responses to climate impacts and policies across the world, with emphasis on climate and energy politics, political science, and public opinion research.

The role includes collaboration with UCSB faculty and national/global partners on ongoing projects related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, plus the opportunity to pursue independent research in climate and energy policy.

Eligibility: applicants must have a PhD in Political Science, Economics, or a related Social Science by the start date; at application time, candidates must either already hold the PhD or be enrolled in a PhD program. Preferred experience includes excellent analysis and writing skills, quantitative social science research methods, and familiarity with climate and/or energy policy and politics.

Funding: 100% appointment for 2 years with a salary range of $69,073–$82,836.

Location: Goleta, California, United States.
