About this position
Aarhus University is advertising a 2-year postdoctoral position in aerobiological modelling at the Department of Environmental Science, with work based in Roskilde, Denmark. The postdoc will contribute to the development of a new generation of numerical models for bioaerosols, especially pollen and fungal spores. The work also involves data from Poleno Jupiter instruments, DNA-based observations, and Hirst trap records, with a focus on both urban and agricultural environments in Denmark.
Required background includes a PhD in environmental science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, or a related field. Applicants should have documented experience in numerical modelling, collaboration, conference presentations, and leading peer-reviewed manuscripts. Strong technical skills in FORTRAN, C or similar languages, and experience with Linux and high-performance computing are required. English fluency and strong communication skills are also expected. Experience with WRF, WRF-Chem, bioaerosols, PyTorch, or TensorFlow is an advantage.
The position is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation through the NNF RECRUIT and NNF EARLY-BLIGHT projects. What's required
Applicants should hold a PhD in environmental science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering or a similar field. Required experience includes collaboration, presenting at international conferences, leading manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, documented research experience in numerical modelling, and strong understanding of the atmosphere and its modelling. Documented experience with FORTRAN, C or similar is required, as is documented experience with Linux and high-performance computing. English fluency, good writing and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently in an international academic environment are required. Experience with WRF, WRF-Chem, bioaerosols, PyTorch, or TensorFlow is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates with a completed PhD before the interview date will also be considered.
