About this position

Postdoc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Luxembourg, within the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB).

This postdoctoral position sits in a highly interdisciplinary research environment focused on systems biomedicine, with particular interest in neurodegenerative processes and diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The project investigates neurological and immunological disorders through integrative analysis of biomedical datasets, with a focus on omics data, clinical data, and structured biological information.

The appointed researcher will implement and apply software analysis pipelines, carry out bioinformatics analyses guided by mechanistic knowledge, and work with experimental and clinical collaborators to interpret disease-related data. The research combines statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, pathway analysis, and network analysis to improve mechanistic understanding of disease-associated alterations.

The ideal candidate is a bioinformatician or computational biologist with strong experience in machine learning and statistical analysis of biomedical data, as well as familiarity with artificial intelligence and large language models for data analysis. Experience with large-scale biomedical data processing, bioscientific programming, next-generation sequencing data analysis, biostatistics, pathway/network analysis, and collaborative research is highly desirable.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree in bioinformatics, artificial intelligence/machine learning, biostatistics, computational biology, or a related area. A publication record in omics, clinical, or structural bioinformatics is expected. Excellent English proficiency (C1) is required, along with strong organizational, interpersonal, and cross-disciplinary skills.

The position is a fixed-term, full-time postdoctoral contract for 12 months, based at Belval Campus in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. The university highlights its international, inclusive, and interdisciplinary environment, strong research infrastructure, and close links to society, industry, and European institutions.

Applications should be submitted online via the HR system and should include a CV, motivation cover letter, PhD diploma or expected defense information, transcripts, publication list, and at least two referees. Early application is encouraged because applications are reviewed upon receipt.
