About this position
CNRS is advertising a postdoctoral position in biomaterials and bioengineering based in Grenoble, France, within the SyMMES Laboratory (CNRS UMR 5819 – CEA – Université Grenoble Alpes) and the CIBEST research team.
The project, BAM-INT, focuses on developing a new generation of 3D-printed biomimetic materials to model the human intestine in vitro. The successful candidate will work at the interface of materials science, biomedical engineering, cell biology, and toxicology, contributing to scaffold design, biomaterial optimization, biological characterization, and functional validation of advanced tissue models.
Research tasks include designing and fabricating three-dimensional scaffolds using FDM 3D printing, developing biomimetic materials with controlled mechanical and biochemical properties, functionalizing scaffolds with extracellular matrix components and growth factors, and performing 2D/3D cell culture with intestinal cell lines and organoid models. The role also includes immunofluorescence, microscopy, permeability assays, transporter activity analyses, transcriptomic studies, data analysis, and dissemination through publications and conferences.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in biomaterials, biomedical engineering, bioengineering, materials science, or a closely related field. A strong background in biomaterials, tissue engineering, or cell-matrix interactions is expected, along with knowledge of cell culture, cell biology, and biological imaging. Experience with 3D printing, mammalian cell culture, organoids, ImageJ/Fiji, Python, or R is advantageous. Basic French and strong scientific English are listed.
Funding and conditions: this is a temporary full-time postdoctoral contract (35 hours/week). The advert does not specify a stipend amount. One day of home office per week is possible.
Application deadline: 8 October 2026 at 23:59 UTC. Apply via the CNRS vacancy page and review the full advert before submitting your application.
