About this position

Postdoctoral researcher in clinical and epidemiological studies of airway diseases at the University of Gothenburg, Institute of Medicine, within the Krefting Research Centre.

The project focuses on asthma, COPD, and broader airway diseases, using large longitudinal datasets from the Swedish National Airway Register (SNAR) and the West Sweden Asthma Study (WSAS). The work combines clinical research, epidemiology, and statistical analysis to study disease course, treatment patterns, prognosis, and clinical outcomes in routine healthcare and population-based cohorts.

The postdoc will analyse and publish results from epidemiological studies, work independently with large datasets, ensure high scientific standards in data quality and statistics, and present findings in peer-reviewed journals and scientific meetings. There are also opportunities to contribute to projects linked to national and international collaborations, including Breathe Sweden, and to support supervision of PhD students and junior researchers.

Eligibility: a PhD in biomedicine, clinical research, health sciences, epidemiology, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent foreign degree). The degree should normally be recent, and applicants must have documented experience in statistical modeling, excellent English, and at least one first-author publication. Experience with COPD/asthma, pharmacology, public health, and SAS/SPSS/R is advantageous.

Employment: fixed-term for 36 months, 100% position, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. Salary is individually set. No scholarship or tuition waiver is mentioned.

Application deadline: 2026-10-29. Apply via the University of Gothenburg recruitment portal and attach your PhD certificate (or provide it by the decision stage if not yet issued).
