About this position
KTH Royal Institute of Technology is advertising a 2-year postdoctoral position within the DASHER project (Data-driven Structured Historic Energy Renovations) at ODEN Labs in Stockholm.
The project addresses a timely and important challenge: how to make culturally valuable historic buildings more energy-efficient without compromising their heritage value. The work begins with Stockholm’s Old Town (Gamla stan) and aims to develop data-driven, physics-based methods for energy renovation aligned with the EU’s revised EPBD directive.
The successful candidate will work on urban building energy modelling (UBEM), extending tools such as ODEN and HIBER Atlas, validating models against real buildings, and helping turn the results into a scalable and cost-effective renovation approach. This is an interdisciplinary project involving academia, industry, and the public sector, including Uppsala University.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in energy systems, building/civil engineering, building physics, or a related area; strong Python and MATLAB skills; and experience with UBEM or building energy simulation.
