About this position
Aarhus University is advertising a Postdoc in Influence of environmental toxins in Parkinson’s Disease pathology at the Department of Biomedicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, in Aarhus, Denmark.
The project sits within PACE – Lundbeck Foundation Parkinson’s Disease Research Center, a translational research environment focused on Lewy body diseases, Parkinson’s disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and disease-modifying approaches. The postdoc will join a research group studying how selected environmental toxicants interact with Parkinson’s disease pathology and risk in pre-clinical rodent models, including WT and/or models carrying LRRK2 and GBA variants.
The work includes in-vivo modeling, stereotaxic surgery in rats, behavioral analysis, postmortem brain histology, advanced microscopy and image analysis, and peripheral organ collection for cell isolation and immune profiling via spectral/flow cytometry and/or RNAseq. The position is research-based and may also involve teaching.
Eligibility highlights: PhD-level qualification, strong publication record, experience with neurodegeneration research and rodent models, excellent English, and collaborative skills. Experience with Parkinson’s disease, alpha-synuclein, GBA/LRRK2, environmental toxicants, flow cytometry, or transcriptomics is especially relevant.
Funding and terms: full-time fixed-term appointment for 1 year with possible extension up to 2 years; externally funded project; salary according to Danish postdoc scales with pension and possible supplements.

What's required
PhD level qualification in neurodegenerative disorders using rodent models; excellent track record with at least two peer-reviewed publications in a relevant field and at least one first-authored paper; strong experience with in-vivo pre-clinical models of neurodegeneration and/or environmental toxicants in rodent models; experience with stereotaxic surgery, rodent behavioural testing, postmortem brain tissue processing and histology, advanced imaging/microscopy and image analysis; experience with peripheral tissue handling is a plus; flow cytometry and transcriptomics are advantageous but not required; fluent oral and written English; demonstrated mobility in CV; teaching experience is a plus; strong organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, inclusive, and team-oriented skills.
